And it began with wall painting in the villages of Ukraine, mainly in today's Dnipropetrovsk region, where the village of Petrikovka is located. In each village, the painting was different and had its own characteristics.
The paintings were not just done for the sake of beauty.
Since ancient times, there was a belief that bright, beautiful images drive away evil forces from the house and protect household members.
All the diversity of Ukrainian culture is transmitted in folk traditions, including painting.
