How to make time for yourself: the importance of self-care for moms

Why is self-care so important?
When we’re busy taking care of others, we often forget about our own needs. But when we don’t make time for ourselves, it can lead to burnout, fatigue, and a bad mood. Taking care of yourself helps maintain your emotional and physical health, which in turn makes us more patient and happier moms. When you’re happy, your kids will be happy too!
Make a Plan
One of the easiest ways to make time for yourself is to make a plan. Try to set aside at least 30 minutes a day to do something that brings you joy. This could be reading a book, exercising, or just spending time alone. Put this time in your calendar and Treat it as an appointment that you can’t miss.
Include your children in your hobbies
If you don’t have the opportunity to spend time alone, try to include your children in your hobbies. If you love to draw, do it with them. Not only is this time for you, but it’s also an opportunity to spend quality time with your children, developing their creative abilities.
Use the help of others
Don’t be afraid to ask for help! If you have a partner, friends or relatives who can take care of the children for at least a couple of hours, use this opportunity. This is a time when you can recharge your batteries and enjoy your favorite activities without worry.
Learn to say “no”
One of the reasons why mothers often forget about themselves is the desire to please everyone around them. Learn to say “no” to unnecessary obligations and events that take up your time and energy. Your self-care should be a priority!
Find your “rest zone”
Create a space in your home where you can relax and spend time with yourself. It could be a cozy corner with a chair where you can read or meditate. Turn this place into your “rest zone” where you can retreat for a few minutes.
Finding time for yourself is not selfishness, but a necessity. By taking care of yourself, you become better for yourself and for your children. Don’t forget: even small moments can make a huge difference.
