Comfort foods are my go-to when I want something cozy and satisfying, but they don’t always have to be unhealthy. Here are a few of my favorite comfort foods and how I make them a little healthier.
Pasta is always a favorite, but instead of using regular pasta, I switch to whole grain or lentil pasta for extra fiber and protein. I also load it with veggies like spinach, zucchini, and tomatoes to make it more nutritious without losing the comforting taste.
For a healthier version of pizza, I use a whole wheat or cauliflower crust and top it with lean proteins like chicken and plenty of colorful vegetables. It’s still delicious but a lot lighter than traditional pizza.
When I’m craving something sweet, I love making banana bread. To make it healthier, I reduce the sugar and use whole wheat flour. Sometimes I add nuts or dark chocolate chips for extra flavor without making it too indulgent.
These little tweaks help me enjoy my favorite comfort foods while keeping them nourishing. It’s all about balance—delicious meals can be both comforting and healthy!
