Every city has its legends. Places that they say are best avoided after sunset. And in our city there is an abandoned house, at the very edge of the forest, gloomy and half-ruined. It is simply called the House on the Eel. It seems to attract the eye, and at the same time inspires anxiety, as if something is dormant inside it that is better not to know about. But the history of this house makes the heart pound with horror. They say that something lives there that likes to whisper to those who wander too close...
One day, a group of teenagers, driven by curiosity and bravado, decided to go to this house to prove to everyone that there is no horror there, and all these legends are just fiction. The evening was windy, the air was saturated with the smell of damp earth, and when they crossed the border of the garden, they felt a strange pressure, as if the air itself was thickening. However, they could not be stopped.
The house greeted them with a resounding silence. The creak of the floor underfoot, the reflection of the moon on the broken windows... And a strange feeling that someone was watching them. The boys were laughing and taking pictures of the shabby walls, when suddenly one of them heard a quiet whisper. It was a barely audible voice calling his name... his name.
When he looked around, he saw no one. But the voice became louder, as if it was creeping right into his ear. "Go away," sounded in his head, but instead of obeying, he tried to find the source of the sound. Everyone laughed until each of them heard their own voice in turn. Someone shouted, and everything in the house flared up with an incomprehensible cold, penetrating to the bone. In fear, everyone threw down their phones and ran out of the house, stumbling at every step, and did not turn around until they reached the city.
And the next morning... one of them found a note in his pocket, dirty and smelling of damp. It was neatly written on it: "You will return, because you are already one of us." Since then, there is a sign in our city: if you accidentally stumble upon a note written in someone else's handwriting, it is better to burn it before it is too late. After all, whoever once heard a whisper from the House on Ugorje will never be able to forget it.
