This story happened at the beginning of autumn. The weather was already beginning to frown, and the sky was covered with heavy clouds. I was returning home after a late meeting with friends, when I noticed that a strange silence hung in the air, which seemed to thicken around. Passing by the park near the house, I felt something elusive cold, as if someone invisibly touched my shoulder. I looked around, but did not see anyone.
However, the strangeness did not end there. Once home, I discovered that there was an old leather-bound book on my desk that I had never seen before. It was as if someone had carefully placed it in the most visible place. The pages had turned yellow with age, but the air clearly smelled of fresh paper, which seemed completely illogical. Trying to find an explanation, I opened the book and was amazed: on the first page there was an inscription in beautiful handwriting, and it mentioned my name.
"Dear Anastasia, remember this day..."
Then there were lines that seemed to warn me of something important, but I could not understand their meaning. The text seemed to have a life of its own: I read it over and over again, but the meaning remained somehow slippery, elusive, like morning fog.
The next day I tried to ask everyone who could have left this book with me, but none of my friends and relatives had even heard of it. There was no inscription about the owner, and my search on the Internet also did not lead to anything. Moreover, each time I opened the book, the inscription on the first page became more and more blurry until it finally disappeared, leaving only a white spot.
This incident became a reminder for me that not everything in our life can be explained. Perhaps it was a sign, maybe a figment of the imagination, but I continue to keep this book as a mysterious artifact, reminding me that sometimes our world is much more mysterious than it seems at first glance.
Since then, going through those very moments in life when it seems that something is slipping away, I involuntarily remember this strange book and the inscription that was intended only for me.
