It is nice bringing up your kids.....caring for their every needs, sending them to school, paying attention to their bruises and hurts, teaching them to be good persons, etc. But these things do not last forever, there comes a time when they become adults and want to go on their own, make their own decisions and, at a certain stage, form their own families. Especially for sons, mothers should not try to hold them back, they've now become men and need to manage their own affairs. I know that some mothers feel sad when it's time for the children to leave the home and go on their own, but it's a normal phenomenon. They cannot remain children forever. Look at the animals, once the young is no longer dependent on the adults, they're just left on their own.
So, take heart in the prospect of your son leaving your home to go on his own. He has now become a man and you should be proud of the effort that you have made to bring him thus far. He won't be out of your life for I'm sure that he'll visit you regularly and you'll still be able to be a part of his life in giving advice and so on. In our culture, we have a saying, "Puppy does turn dog" which means that even the puppy will, one day, become a dog, or the baby will one day become a man/woman. Hope I've been able to make you feel better.
