My path to self-knowledge through yoga.
id: 10055543

One day I decided: "I need to start doing yoga!" It seemed to me that it would be easy. But the very first lesson dispelled the illusions. Where my neighbors on the mat calmly folded themselves into a lotus and stood in a warrior pose with absolute calm, I resembled a broken umbrella in the wind. And of course, standing in a tree pose without swinging is generally the highest level of skill, which I have been working towards for a long time!
My great achievements (and not so much) .
One of the most unexpected "positions" in yoga is the position... "lying down and doing nothing." It is called Shavasana - and, honestly, it seemed to me that this was the easiest part! But in this pose, as it turns out, you don’t just need to lie down, you need to really relax, just be in the moment. It turns out that turning off thoughts about what to cook for dinner and where the keys are is more difficult than doing a headstand.
Meditations, breathing, and my (non)enlightenment .
Self-knowledge through yoga is not only about poses. There is also breathing and meditations that are supposed to bring enlightenment. It’s funny, but the first meditations turned into a festival of strange thoughts for me: “Why do dumplings take 10 minutes to cook, and pasta only 5?” or “How does my neighbor live if he has such loud cats?” But you know, after a while I noticed: breathing and calm meditations really help! As soon as you manage to stop this internal monologue (well, at least for a minute), calmness comes. Now, when I start to get nervous, I just imagine myself on the mat and take a deep breath. Sometimes it helps! Little insights and big changes
Yoga is like a strange mirror that shows something new about you every time. Today you learn that you can't breathe calmly and stand on one leg, tomorrow - that the stiffness in your body hides accumulated emotions. Gradually you begin to understand: this journey is not about flexibility, but about patience, self-acceptance... and a little about how to sit in the lotus, of course!
Yoga is my faithful companion!
Yoga taught me not only to bend over and not fall, but also to treat myself with humor. Because when you fall off the mat for the hundredth time or catch funny looks on your "peaceful" faces in meditation - you just need to smile. And, in the end, this is also part of the path! With love and ease,
Nadya .
