This holiday has its roots in the distant past, when the first settlers celebrated a successful harvest together with Native Americans. Several centuries have passed since then, but the essence has remained the same: this is a day when we look back to see what is worth being grateful for and appreciate what we have.
How do we celebrate Thanksgiving? The main symbol of the holiday is a dinner with turkey, baked until golden brown. It is accompanied by side dishes: mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce and, of course, the famous pumpkin pie. Cooking begins long before the evening, and the process itself turns into a small family ritual.
But Thanksgiving is not only about food. It's about communication, laughter, warm hugs and stories around the table. People remember pleasant moments, share plans and are simply happy that they have each other. There is another, no less important tradition. Many families on this day try to help those in need. They donate food to shelters, help local charities or invite those who are alone to their table. For me, Thanksgiving is a reminder that happiness is hidden in the little things: in the smiles of loved ones, in the smell of cinnamon and in the feeling of comfort. And although I do not always celebrate this holiday according to all the traditions, I like the idea itself - to stop, breathe deeply and say "thank you" to life. Maria.
