First lesson: how to put on skis
It immediately became clear: to become a skier, you first need to figure out the equipment. "Why is one of my skis facing north and the other facing east?!" I asked, standing in the flamingo pose. The local pros looked at me reservedly, but their smiles said it all.
After fifteen minutes of struggling, I finally stood on skis. More precisely, I balanced like on a rope, trying not to fall. Spoiler: I fell.
Second lesson: how to move
The instructor cheerfully explained: "Just relax, lean forward and... go!"
I went quickly. More precisely, head over heels down. It turns out that in order to brake, you need to spread your skis apart. And I thought that this was not a physics lesson, but just a vacation in nature!
Luckily, the snow was soft. However, it stuck to me with such passion that I turned into a snow woman.
Lesson Three: How to Laugh at Yourself
After a dozen falls, I understood the main thing: skiing is not only a sport, but also a show. My somersaults caused more applause than the professionals! One girl even asked her mother: "Is this woman a clown?"
And you know what? I was not offended. Because through laughter comes confidence. And, as it turned out, after ten falls, at least one correct move comes.
Result: the skiing spirit won!
By the end of the day, I was still able to ski a small slope. Even though it did not look as graceful as others, I was proud of myself!
Skiing has taught me a lot: patience, a sense of humor, and resilience. And also that snow in your nose is not that scary.
Next time I'll definitely try something new! Maybe snowboarding? Although, to be honest, I'm still afraid for those who will be nearby.
With a smile, Nadya .
