The art of the useless day.
id: 10041566

Let’s be honest: in the modern world, every second person is chasing productivity. We make to-do lists, then lists for lists, then lists of “why didn’t I do anything from the list.” Do you know what my most “productive” day was? When I was lying on the couch, looking at the ceiling and counting the cracks. And you know what? It was a wonderful day. No one was whining like “Mom, where are my socks,” my phone was silent, and I was just enjoying doing nothing. Useless? Maybe. But how happy! Or here’s another: I once spent the whole day trying to teach my cat to give me a paw. In the end, I ate his food (it was tastier than I thought), the cat looked at me like I was an idiot, and that was it. Useful? Zero. Enjoyment? One hundred percent! A useless day is not about doing nothing. It’s about freedom from imposed goals. When you can just sit in a chair, drink coffee, and think about why clouds sometimes look like cakes. It’s the art of being in the moment, without the pressure to be “successful” or “effective.”
So if you had a day when you achieved nothing, were in no hurry, and spent all your time on what makes you happy — congratulations! You’ve already mastered the art of living.
I wish you as many of these “useless” but absolutely magical days as possible.
Laughing and doing nothing, Anastasia.
