6th December: The Kindness of St. Nicholas Day
The holiday season begins with St. Nicholas Day, a beloved tradition, especially for children. On the eve of this day, little ones polish their shoes and leave them by the window or door, eagerly awaiting St. Nicholas’s visit. If they’ve been good, they wake up to find sweets, fruits, or small gifts. Naughty children, however, might find a cheeky lump of coal or a birch rod.

For adults, St. Nicholas Day is a gentle reminder of the importance of kindness and generosity. It’s a day to give from the heart, whether it’s a thoughtful gift, a kind word, or simply time spent with someone you care about.

Do you have a tradition in your life that fills you with the same warmth and excitement as St. Nicholas Day?

25th December: Christmas Cheer
Christmas on 25th December is increasingly celebrated in Ukraine alongside the more traditional Orthodox Christmas on January 7th. This date is becoming a bridge between Western and Ukrainian traditions, symbolizing unity and shared joy.

Christmas here is about family and faith. We decorate our homes with lights and ornaments, prepare delicious meals, and exchange heartfelt gifts. But what I love most is the spirit of love and gratitude that fills the air. It’s a time to reflect on the blessings of the year and to cherish those closest to our hearts.

If you could celebrate Christmas with someone special, what traditions would you like to share or create together?

31st December: Welcoming the New Year
Finally, we arrive at New Year’s Eve, a time for fireworks, toasts, and fresh starts. In Ukraine, this celebration is grand and lively, often marked by large family gatherings, vibrant parties, and the presence of Did Moroz (Grandfather Frost) and his granddaughter Snihurochka (Snow Maiden), who bring gifts to children.

For me, New Year’s Eve is about hope and dreams. It’s the perfect time to set intentions for the future and to toast to new beginnings with loved ones. I imagine sharing this night with someone special, holding hands as we watch the fireworks light up the sky, and whispering our hopes for the year ahead.

What is your most cherished New Year’s memory? And if you could create the perfect celebration, what would it look like?

Why December is More Than Just a Month
For me, December isn’t just about holidays—it’s about connection, love, and the magic of sharing these moments with someone special. Each of these celebrations—6th, 25th, and 31st December—offers a chance to pause, reflect, and connect.

Now, let me ask you:

Which of these celebrations resonates most with you, and why?
How do you usually spend December, and what makes it special for you?
If you could share one of these festive moments with someone new, what would you want them to know about your traditions?
I’d love to hear your thoughts. And who knows? Maybe this December, we could create our own little traditions, blending our worlds and making memories that will last a lifetime.

With festive cheer and a warm heart,
Your December Dreamer 🎄✨
