My tree is not just a tree hung with balls and garlands, it is a small world of memories. And the main characters of this world are candy. Yes, yes, I always decorate the tree with candy, and, frankly, I can’t imagine it without them. This tradition began in childhood. Mom always bought the most beautiful candies in bright wrappers. They looked as if they wanted to become part of the holiday decor. My brothers and I first hung them on the branches, and then quietly, under cover of night, “stole” one or two pieces. Mom, of course, noticed the loss, but always pretended that she hadn’t noticed anything. Many years have passed since then, but the tradition has remained. Now my son enthusiastically helps me hang candies on the tree, and then, with a cunning look in his eyes, “investigates” which ones are easiest to get. Why candies? Because they carry something very warm and cozy. Chocolate, caramel, marmalade - all this is not just sweets, it is a symbol of joy, childhood, the feeling that the holiday is already here, right in your home. Each candy on the tree is a small story. These golden truffles are my favorite taste. These round chocolates in wrappers with a picture of Santa Claus are like a reminder of children's matinees. I chose this long striped caramel only because its packaging reminded me of the fairy tales I used to read on New Year's Eve. Yes, some will say that decorating a Christmas tree with candies is banal. But for me, there is so much sincerity and happiness in it!
