Family comfort and traditions

Christmas in America is, first of all, a time for family. Families get together to decorate the Christmas tree, wrap gifts and spend time in a warm atmosphere. The celebration begins long before December 25: the Christmas spirit spreads through the cities, the streets are decorated with lights, real shows are arranged in the shop windows, and the main symbol of the holiday - the Christmas tree - is installed in every house.
Gifts from Santa

Santa Claus is one of the brightest figures of American Christmas. Children write him letters with wishes and leave cookies and milk by the fireplace at night. In the morning they find gifts under the Christmas tree that Santa "brought" by going down the chimney.
Christmas decor and parades

Americans are known for their love of decor. Houses compete to see whose yard shines the brightest, and windows and roofs are decorated with fantastic garlands. Large cities such as New York host large-scale Christmas parades. The most famous of these is the Macy’s parade on Thanksgiving Day, which symbolically opens the Christmas season.
Festive table

The American Christmas table usually includes a baked turkey or ham, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and pecan or pumpkin pie. Different regions add their own specialties: for example, in the South they may serve “sweet potatoes” (yams) baked with marshmallows.
Songs and films

It is impossible to imagine an American Christmas without “Jingle Bells” or “All I Want for Christmas Is You”. Just like without classic films such as “Home Alone”, “It’s a Wonderful Life” or “Elf”. They create a cozy atmosphere that can be enjoyed with loved ones.
Good deeds at Christmas

Another important part of American Christmas traditions is charity. Many people donate money, food or gifts to those in need, which adds even more warmth and kindness to the holiday.

Christmas in the USA is a holiday of vivid impressions, traditions and unwavering faith in miracles. This is a time when even adults become children again, and every decorated Christmas tree or Christmas movie reminds us of the most important things: love, family and hope.
