Do you have a food that is your guilty pleasure? Something you shouldn't eat all the time but it is one of your favorite things to eat? For me i am a sweet tooth! i love candies and chocolates. But for you today i have something else to share! I am born and grown up in Ukraine. So Ukrainian traditions, food and family orientation is in my blood. No matter where i will relocate and live in future. i will do all this what i get used to and share with with my man! :) OF COURSE i know how to cook cabage rolls. This is the first what mother teaches a girl! haha Here is "Golubtsi" Recipe. Maybe classic Ukrainian food but the way i really cook it. Golubtsi take a lot of time if you are making the full recipe (2 hours to prepare and stuff the cabbage, then 1 to 2 hours to cook). As my grandmother said a huge pot can feed a big family. because it is cooked from eazy ingridients, very nutritive, healthy and supertasty! “Family size,” I mean their Mom, Dad and 12 kids this what really saved the family from the hunger in difficult times. (Many kids is not common in the land of Ukraine – in fact, I can name off several families that have 10 or more kids). My point is, it makes a full pot. ;)

I will say this: Cabagge rolls are worth the trouble! But if my man helps me on the kitchen i will be super happy and eating them together is the best! :) You can make the whole batch and then freeze it in portions using freezer safe tupperware. That’s what I did and you honestly can’t tell the difference in taste whether you saute up the fresh or thawed golubtsi. Ingredients for Golubtsi:
6 cups medium grain cooked white rice (from 2 cups uncooked rice)
2 Medium Cabbages
1 pound ground pork
1 pound ground turkey or chicken
2 large eggs
6 medium carrots, grated (4 for meat mix, 2 for “Podliva” sauce)
2 cups of your favorite mushroom marinara sauce
1/4 cup white vinegar
Sunflower natural oil
1 Tbsp butter
1 Tbsp sour cream
1 tsp your favorite salt-free seasoning
Salt
The most long and busy level is to little boil a cabbage in a huge pot and divide leave by leave very carefully. once i got burned with a boiling water..:( my friends use a microwave for this process. it is a such called lifehack))) but sadly i dont have a microwave anymore((( it burned and never coud be repaired again. The most tasty level is cooking the sause(Podliva) :) sometimes i can eat it half before using to the cabbage rools! haha Here is how to make Podliva

Heat 2 Tbsp of olive oil. Saute remaining 2 grated carrots. Add 1 Tbsp sour cream and 1 cup of mushroom marinara sauce. Saute another minute and remove from heat. Then i make cabbage rolls very easy and fast. because my hands are very fast, skilfull and delicate. When everything is in the pot, i add the sause, water and let it boil for about 40-60 minutes depending on the size of the pot. :) Bon Appetite!

Ps: also i like to cook vegeterian cabbage rolls! mmm yummmyy-yummy

kiss!
Tatyana

P.S.: i am sorry for my very simple picture in the kitchen. I will wear something special on the occasion! :)
