Let's figure out if you should hurry anywhere at all?
Hurry or enjoy?
How many times have you noticed that, while rushing, you forget to enjoy the moment? For example, when you're riding in a taxi to an important meeting, you look at your watch, and not at the sunset outside the window. Or you're rushing through breakfast, and the coffee has already cooled down while you were checking your email. It's like in the cartoon: "And I keep running, running..." But what's the point? If you think about it, life is not a to-do list that needs to be checked off. It's more like a dance: if you rush, you'll definitely step on your partner's foot.
Where are we all rushing to?
It's funny, but often we don't know why we're running somewhere. Some want to grow up faster, some want to do everything, and some are just afraid that "life will pass you by." But honestly, is there any point in rushing just to... rush again?
Life loves balance
Here's a metaphor: if you step on the gas all the time, the gas will run out sooner or later, and the engine will overheat. It's the same with us. Try to turn on "turtle mode" sometimes - it's not only useful, but also surprisingly pleasant. A slow morning with a cup of coffee, a walk without headphones, a dinner where you don't just chew, but enjoy the taste.
But don't confuse "slowness" with laziness
Slowing down doesn't mean forgetting about your dreams and putting everything off until later. It's about mindfulness: doing what's important, but not turning it into a race. You know where people are always in a hurry? At the supermarket before closing. That's where it's definitely fun chaos!
So should we rush?
I don't think so. Life is not a race against time. And yes, we all have deadlines, but if the whole journey turns into a rush, the joy of victories is lost. The only time you should rush to live is when you want to hug your loved one or buy ice cream before it melts. Everything else can wait.
With love, Maria.
