When I think about a wedding, I don’t just want to look at beautiful architecture or do everything according to fashion. It is important to me that the place where this moment will take place fills it with special meaning.
For me, choosing a church is not just a question of the appearance of the building. This is a question that touches on much deeper. I have always believed that a wedding is a moment when two people become not only for each other, but also for God. And when I think about where to hold a wedding, I try to feel what place will reflect this sacred moment.
The Roman Basilica of St. Peter is a place that probably every Catholic dreams of. After all, it is the center of the Catholic world, a place where it is as if all the saints are holding their hands on your shoulders, blessing your union. I cannot help but admire its grandeur. But here’s what sometimes seems to me… such a huge space can slightly overshadow the moment itself. It’s as if you lose the feeling of closeness, intimacy. All this splendor seems to distance you from the most important thing – from what’s happening right here, in your heart.
On the other hand, I can’t help but remember the Church of St. Francis in Assisi. Here, in this small town where St. Francis lived, there is such an incredible spiritual atmosphere. Here, it seems to me, you can feel how the earth connects with the sky. I always thought that it is precisely such places that can help you see your love from a new side, to deepen it. This place is not about splendor, but about deep spirituality and peace. When I imagine how a wedding takes place in such a church, I see before me not so much external splendor, but real holiness.
For example, I like the idea of a wedding in the Church of the Holy Trinity in New York. This is a church that combines modernity and respect for tradition. For me, this is a special place. I think this church could be the perfect place for a wedding. It doesn’t scream with its luxury, but it is full of that very peace and quiet that you want to find at such an important moment. This is exactly the case when the style does not interrupt the meaning, but on the contrary, emphasizes it. A simple, but incredibly harmonious choice.
You know, sometimes I am drawn to cities like Prague. The Church of St. Dominic in Prague is a completely different type of place, but also with an incredible atmosphere. These are not loud, bulky cathedrals, but a simple place with such sincere warmth. Prague as a city is so peaceful in itself that it seems like the perfect place to create your own love story. I always like to think that it is not necessary to go for a loud title to find something truly worthwhile.
And, frankly, I like the idea of a small, cozy church, like the Church of St. Joseph in Buenos Aires. It is not a place to show off at all. This is a place for those who are not looking for external luxury, but want the wedding to be about real feelings, and not about the splendor of the decorations. Small details that can mean much more to you than giant facades.
All this led me to the idea that each of us perceives the importance of the wedding in our own way. And it seems to me that it is important not only to choose a beautiful church, but also to find one that will be close to your inner world. For example, I strive for it to be a place where I can feel that God is near, where there is a sense of spiritual closeness and silence, and not just external beauty.
I would like to know what you think about this. What places do you think are the most suitable for such an important event? Or do you perhaps think that the location is not so important? It is always a question of choice, and I will be interested to hear your thoughts.
