My parents' unusual valentine's day traditions after 35 years of marriage
id: 10045767

Every year on February 14th, they write letters to each other, but not regular cards with ready-made words, but real letters, long, sincere, sometimes funny, with memories of the past and dreams of the future. This is what they started doing in the first year of marriage, and they still continue to do it. Mom keeps all the letters in an old box tied with a red ribbon, and sometimes rereads them in silence.

They also have a tradition of having a first date dinner at home. Every year they cook what they ate that night when they first started dating. Dad remembers how awkwardly he chose a dish, Mom laughs that he spilled wine, and then they relive that moment again, as if time had turned back.

Every year I look at them and think, this is what true love means - not pompous gestures once a year, but small but important traditions that make relationships strong.

Do you have any special traditions that you maintain with your loved one?

Yours, Alеna
