On Sundays in Kyiv, fewer and fewer people come to Catholic churches. I remember how our church was full - families, young couples, elderly people, children, sometimes even someone would start a conversation at the entrance, and this was part of some general rhythm of life. Now, when I enter the church, I increasingly see empty rows, and this makes me a little sad.
Don't think that I want to reproach you or, God forbid, preach to you. I just want to understand: why is this happening? After all, faith is not only rituals, it is a part of us, our inner world. It helps not to get lost in this vain life, gives points of support. Or am I just old-fashioned in my thinking?
I have never been a person who sees the world in black and white. I have doubts, there are moments when I ask myself how strong my own faith is. But that's when I feel how important it is to be among people who share your values. It's like coming to a home where you're welcome, where you can leave all your worries at the door and just be yourself. And I want more people to remember that.
I don't know if you go to church, or if you've ever thought about it. Maybe you're one of those who think that faith is personal, and God can be found anywhere. Maybe that's true. But I still believe that sometimes we just need to come to church, so as not to lose something important in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. After all, humans are social creatures, and even our faith grows stronger in communication with others.
I don't know, I'm curious what you think about it. How do you feel about your faith? Maybe you've also noticed that there are fewer people in churches? Or, on the contrary, do you have your own explanation for why it's not so important?
