What is jealousy?
Jealousy is a mixture of fear, insecurity, possessiveness and the desire to control. It can arise not only in romantic relationships, but also in friendship, family and even at work. However, it is in love that jealousy often becomes the most destructive force.
Why does jealousy kill love?
Distrust. Where jealousy settles, trust disappears. Partners begin to suspect each other, check phones, ask questions that sound like an interrogation. This creates an atmosphere of tension in which it is difficult to be sincere and open.
Restriction of freedom. A jealous person often tries to control every action of their partner. This leads to suppression of the personality and the feeling that the person is suffocating in the relationship.
Self-destruction. Jealousy eats away not only the relationship from the inside, but also the person themselves. Constant negative thoughts, suspicions and comparisons destroy self-esteem and inner peace.
Emotional abuse. In an attempt to satisfy jealousy, some people resort to manipulation, threats or even aggression. This turns the relationship into a toxic environment where there is no more room for love.
How to deal with jealousy?
Work on self-confidence. Often jealousy stems from internal complexes. By developing self-confidence, we reduce our dependence on the opinions and behavior of others.
Talk to your partner. Openness and honesty help avoid misunderstandings and reduce anxiety.
Give freedom. In a healthy relationship, it is important to respect each other's personal boundaries.
Seek support. Sometimes jealousy is rooted in past traumas. Psychotherapy or talking to loved ones can help to understand these feelings. Jealousy is not a sign of strong love, but a signal that something is wrong. The stronger the jealousy, the deeper the grave for love. However, having realized this, you can learn to manage your emotions and keep the relationship alive, full of trust and warmth. Nadya.
