What to do if you feel like you’re not getting enough attention?

Allow Yourself to Want Attention
It’s natural for people to seek recognition. We all want to feel valued by friends, partners, and colleagues. That’s completely normal!

However, many of us were taught from a young age: “Don’t seek attention,” “Handle things on your own.” As a result, people often suppress their need for care, fearing they’ll seem needy. But think about childhood — babies cry and demand attention, and no one sees it as something bad.

Over time, we start believing that asking for attention is shameful. But ignoring these feelings can lead to loneliness and insecurity.

Find a Balance
There are two extreme mindsets:
🔹 “I can handle everything on my own; I don’t need anyone.”
🔹 “I don’t exist without constant attention.”

Both are harmful. The first can lead to emotional burnout, while the second creates dependent relationships.

What Can You Do?
✅ Acknowledge that attention is important to you — it’s natural.
✅ Express your needs to loved ones openly, without blaming them.
✅ Fill your life with interests, rather than just waiting for care from others.
✅ Learn to appreciate yourself, even when no one is praising you.

Attention isn’t a luxury — it’s a fundamental human need. Allow yourself to want it, but don’t make it your only source of happiness.
