Life presents us with challenges sometimes, and we can't always control what happens. But what we can control are our reactions. I've noticed that emotional resilience is not an innate quality, but a skill that can be developed. The number one thing that helps me stay calm is mindfulness. When anxiety strikes, I focus on the present moment: a few deep breaths, awareness of my body and sensations help bring myself back to reality.
The second tool is physical activity. A walk, stretch or workout instantly reduces stress levels and helps release built-up tension. And, of course, talking to loved ones. Sometimes simply discussing your emotions can make you feel supported and empowered. We can't change the whole world, but we can change our attitude towards it by learning to see new opportunities even in difficulties.
