One only has to think that not so long ago everyone was looking for the right information in libraries, newspapers and some things even in archives. Interesting and necessary advertisements, vacancies, columns about fashion, psychology and many other things were printed in newspapers/magazines. As for books, if you look at every century and year, they remain readable and needed. But what about now, in a world where everything can be found in a few clicks, it seems that paper books are slowly giving way to digital media. E-readers, smartphones and tablets have made reading more accessible, more convenient, more compact. But can they really replace the feeling of a real book?
What is the difference?
E-readers are very convenient: in one device you can store not only one book and view thousands of pages, adjust the font size, read in the dark. However, it is inferior to a regular book, there is something special in turning paper pages, in the characteristic smell of ink and light rustling of paper. Only book lovers will understand the moment when you enter a bookstore and you can be enveloped by the very smell of books, which can not be confused with anything. Every book is a new universe, a new story that makes you think, feel sad or dream about something. This tactile experience creates a special atmosphere in which the text is perceived differently - deeper and more conscious.
Books and emotions
Studies show that people remember information better when read on paper than from a screen. The touch, smell, and even the weight of a book in your hands create additional associations that help retain information. In addition, reading paper books reduces stress levels - the process of turning pages acts in an almost meditative way.
Why won't paper books disappear?
Despite advances in technology, books continue to be printed and sold in millions of copies. People still love the feel of a book in their hands, collect editions, and enjoy the design of the covers. Yes, e-books are convenient, but they cannot replace the magic and sensation that the smell of fresh paper and the rustling of pages creates.
The choice is always up to the reader
E-books are suitable for those who value convenience and compactness, but if atmosphere, depth of perception and the feeling of authentic reading are important - paper books remain irreplaceable. In the end, it doesn't really matter how exactly we read - the important thing is that we keep doing it.
So what do you choose - an ebook or a paper book? I'd be interested if someone could share their opinion after reading it.
