Today I was riding home on a crowded bus. Tired, with thoughts of business, of everyday life, of an evening that would again fly by unnoticed. I looked out the window when I felt someone's eyes on me. He was sitting a few feet away from me, tall, with brooding eyes the color of the sky before a thunderstorm. He wasn't trying to flirt, wasn't smiling deliberately. He just stared. Calmly, warmly, as if he saw something deeper, not appearance.

Our eyes met for only a few seconds. But in that moment, everything around us froze - the city, the people, the noise of the engine. It felt like we knew each other, even though we might never meet again. He got off at the next stop without even looking back. And I was left with this strange feeling of slight longing and unexpected hope.

Why are such meetings more memorable than long conversations?
Sometimes one sincere minute can be more important than hours of socializing.
