Every day we make hundreds of decisions - what to wear, what to eat, where to go, with whom to socialize. But how much of these decisions are really ours? Or are we cleverly manipulated by algorithms, marketing, and social norms?
Imagine going to the store to get milk and leaving with a basket of unnecessary goods. Or opening up social media for a minute and then realizing an hour later that you're stuck on ads and other people's stories. In a world where our every move is tracked and analyzed, freedom of choice becomes an illusion. We think we're making conscious choices, but in reality we're just following the path others have laid out for us.
What if we try to get out of this system? For example, start asking yourself the question, “Why do I really want this?” Is it my desire or is it imposed from the outside? Perhaps that's when real choice will emerge.
How many truly independent choices do you think you have in your life?
