Maundy thursday – like a new beginning
id: 10056768

From the very morning, the house smells of detergents, freshness and a little incense. My mother always said: "How you spend Maundy Thursday – so will your year be." Therefore, since childhood, I got used to getting up early, washing windows, and cleaning with a soul.
Another tradition is to be sure to wash before sunrise.
It seems to wash away all the bad that has accumulated and prepares for a great bright holiday. I remember when I didn’t want to wake up as a child, but my dad carried water and said: "Come on, little one, cleanliness is strength."
And after that day, the house was always so cozy – as if it wasn’t just clean, but a holiday had settled in.
Now I also clean on Maundy Thursday – and not only at home, but also inside myself. I do a little “detox”: I clean my thoughts, plan something new, and let go of resentments. It’s a very right feeling to start everything from scratch.
And every time I think: how good it is that these traditions are passed from heart to heart.
