Easter in Uukraine: a holiday of the soul, the taste of childhood and the aroma of kulich

🕊 Sacred silence before the explosion of joy
Everything begins with the Great Lent. Someone adheres to it strictly, someone symbolically, but for the majority it is a time of inner purification. Holy Week is special, when houses are cleaned, souls are quiet, and the kitchen smells of pastry and vanilla.

🍞 Easter is not just bread
Every family has its own recipe for Easter. For some, it's tall, loose and filled with raisins. For others, it's low, dense, with almonds or candied fruit. But the most important thing is the process of preparation. The dough is kneaded with prayer, in silence, with love. Easter is decorated with protein glaze, colored sprinkles or elegant dough patterns. And necessarily - carried to the church to consecrate.

🥚 Pysanky and krashanky: the magic of color and symbols
Egg is a symbol of life, and Ukrainian pysanka is a real work of art. In many villages they still paint eggs with wax, creating incredible patterns. Red, yellow, black, stars, flowers, crosses - every symbol has a meaning.

🧺 Easter basket: beauty and flavor in one
The basket is like a ritual piece. There should definitely be kulich, krashanki, sausage, butter, cheese, salt - all beautifully laid out, embroidered rushnik on top. On Sunday morning people in embroidered vyshyvankas go to temples to consecrate the food. This tradition unites generations - from grandmother to the youngest grandchildren.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family holiday with the flavor of childhood.
After church, there is a communal table. The clinking of glasses, the laughter of children, the smell of baked ham and warm buttered kulich. People greet each other with the words, “Christ is Risen!” - “Truly risen!”
Everything is permeated with love, peace and hope for a new - better - life.

💛💙 Easter in Ukrainian is when you are at home
Even in difficult times, Ukrainians hold on to their traditions. Easter is not just a calendar date. It is a state of mind. It is about love for home, for family, for life. It is about faith that even after a dark night there will be a dawn.

Christ is Risen! And together with him Ukraine is resurrected every year
