It is more than just food - it is a symbol of my gratitude, of my heart. First - Easter cake. It is always homemade, with raisins, vanilla and white icing. I always put Easter eggs - one red, the others I dye naturally, in the husk. Then - salt, as a symbol of purification.
Cheese - white, homemade, it personifies purity. A little sausage or meat - as a sign of abundance. A must - flower-shaped butter, which we prepare together with our son.
We also put a candle, because light is what we want the most. On top is an embroidered towel that my mother embroidered. It always smells like home.
This basket is like a small universe in which every thing has meaning. And when the priest blesses it, it seems to me that my whole life is being blessed.
