🎮 the world of computer games: more than just entertainment

A game is not just "killing time"

Modern games are not just about "shooting and running". Many projects can be safely compared to books or movies. Take, for example, The Last of Us, where the plot keeps you in suspense from the first minutes, or Disco Elysium, in which the player has to understand himself no less than in a detective story.
Social aspect: friends and enemies online

Online games have long ceased to be just a competition. These are entire communities, with memes, inside jokes and their own culture. In one game you can meet people from different countries, chat, laugh, and sometimes find friends for years.

By the way, eSports are no longer a joke. Dota 2, CS2 or League of Legends tournaments gather millions of viewers, and prize pools reach tens of millions of dollars. This is already a sport, only digital.
And what about indie?

Indie games are a separate magic. Small studios (or even single developers) often create projects that hit you right in the heart. Hollow Knight, Stardew Valley, Undertale - seemingly simple on the outside, but incredibly deep inside.
Why games are normal

Games teach. In them you can learn history, practice English, pump up your reaction or even learn teamwork. The main thing is to know when to stop. As in everything, balance is important.

In conclusion: the world of computer games is huge and diverse. These are no longer just "shooters for teenagers", but full-fledged media in which everyone will find something for themselves - be it thrills, an interesting story or just relaxation after a hard day.
