When love is chemistry
Scientists have long studied that falling in love is accompanied by specific biochemical processes. In the brain of a person in love, dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin are actively produced. These substances are responsible for the feeling of joy, attachment and happiness. In a state of love, our body is literally “on high” - we feel euphoria, delight, and want to be near the object of our sympathy.
Biologists even say that the choice of a partner is often based on instinctive things: smells, behavioral signals, external features that indicate health and good genes. All this sounds very pragmatic and seems to destroy romance a little, doesn’t it?
When love is a miracle
But can love be fully explained only by chemistry? Hardly. After all, love is also a choice. It is a willingness to support another person, to share with them not only happy moments, but also difficulties. It is patience, acceptance of imperfection, the ability to forgive. Can such profound things be explained by chemical reactions alone?
Many believe that true love is a miracle: meeting, among billions of people, that soul with whom you resonate on a deep level. Such a feeling is something much greater than physical attraction or brain biochemistry.
Or maybe both?
Perhaps love is a combination of science and magic. The biological basis gives us the impetus, but true love begins when we choose to stay together, even when the euphoria passes. The miracle lies in the ability of a person to love consciously - to be grateful, caring, honest. And this is precisely the greatest beauty of love.
