A lonely dinner and a full plate of peace

There’s something special about setting the table just for yourself. Not because no one else is around, but because you want to show yourself care. No special reason needed. That’s the beauty of it.

I cook something simple but tasty. Cut up some veggies, add cheese, maybe a slice of bread. Sometimes it’s wine, sometimes just tea with lemon. Soft music, maybe a candle, a bit of quiet. No rush. Like a date. With myself.

I used to avoid these moments. Thought they were sad. But now I realize: real loneliness is sitting beside someone who doesn’t see you. Being alone with yourself — that’s a chance to really listen.

When you’re good at being with yourself, you stop waiting for someone else to make the evening special. You already know how to create warmth, even in the quiet. And if someone does show up — they don’t save you, they simply join you in something already beautiful.

So I don’t wait for a reason. I set the table just because. Because I can. Because I want to. And you know what? It tastes amazing.
