Spring that let us down... ❄️🌱
id: 10043810

This has never happened in April. This is not even an exaggeration.

Our people always said: “If Easter has come, then it’s already spring.”

And this year Easter has come - and with it sub-zero temperatures at night, frozen seedlings, and empty hopes for the harvest...

In our village, almost everyone grows something.
Some for themselves, some for the market, some for wholesale purchases.

And this year the cabbage just turned black right in the ground.

The strawberries in many fields froze.

They were so tenderly covered, hoping that they would survive. But no.

The frost was too strong, even the film couldn’t save them.

Farmers are now… like soldiers after a storm.

For some, 40% died, for others, almost everything.

People still go out to the fields, plant again.

Whoever has time. But this means more work, more expenses, and it’s far from certain that the harvest will ripen in time.

Sometimes you want to sit right on the edge of the field and just be silent. Because words are powerless here.

Because the earth is like a person: it has a soul, a character, whims.

And this year it seems to have closed itself off from us…

Do you know what is usually planted in Ukraine in the spring?
Cabbage, potatoes, carrots, onions, beets, zucchini... yes, everything that will be on your plate in the summer and fall 🥕🥔🍓
And also corn, sunflower, soybeans, grains. These are already large farms. They feed not only Ukraine, but also Europe.

Have you heard about this before?
I wonder what you imagine a Ukrainian farmer does?

Only from morning to night on a tractor, or is there something more to it?

Something related to patience, faith and love for the land? 🌾

If you are interested, I will tell you who a Ukrainian farmer is😄
