From time immemorial, it was taken for granted that the woman's responsibility was to cook and mind the home. If a man married a woman and she didn't know to cook, she became a pariah and attracted her husband's displeasure. It was the mother's responsibility to train her daughter and made sure she knew to cook before she was married.

But in these modern days when women are competing with men in the workplace, many are not bothering with the culinary arts but are pursuing careers in other spheres. Many men are now pursuing careers as chefs because it is a going profession. It is also a known fact that many men are better cooks than women.

Cooking is an art that has to be done lovingly and carefully. Someone once coined a phrase, "Cook with wild abandon". I, for one, would like to see my wife in the kitchen, cooking up a storm. I would also lend a hand because I'm a fair cook myself. Cooking should not be dependant on the woman alone, but the man should help out sometimes. For instance, if the wife has to work and is running late, the man should not just sit at
home, just waiting for her to come and cook, she will be tired. So, cooking is not a woman's thing or a man's thing, but everybody's thing.
