Women's morning in Ukraine. now.
id: 10056736

A Ukrainian woman's morning is no longer like it used to be. It begins not with an alarm clock, but with sounds - footsteps in the hallway, a news feed, a siren, silence that for some reason is disturbing. But even in such conditions, amidst war and anxiety, life has not stopped. It has simply changed shape. Women have become stronger. And the morning is their personal front. Waking up, the first thing she does is reach for her phone. Not to scroll through the feed of fashionable novelties or new recipes, but to make sure: "everyone is alive." She looks to see if there has been shelling in her hometown, in the city of her mother, sister, friend. She double-checks her messages, catches her breath if she hears a siren. And only then does she go to the kitchen. Coffee now smells different. Not because it has changed, but because its taste is a sip of normality. It is a ritual in which there is peace, and therefore strength. While the water is boiling in the kettle, she can quietly exhale, look out the window. Somewhere nearby are destroyed houses, somewhere far away are children hurrying to school, as if nothing had happened. Life goes on. Even under an anxious sky. Then - a mirror. Light makeup - not for the sake of beauty, but for the feeling: "I am alive." Blush, mascara, lipstick - like armor. As a sign that she did not give up. That she remains a woman, even when there is a war around. Ukrainian women's morning today is a feat in a soft form. This is the ability to combine anxiety with care, fear with tenderness, survival with love.
