The morning would not begin with coffee and a phone, but with lighting the stove and washing with cold water.
I would write letters with an ink pen and go to the market with a basket. Instead of stories, the whispers of neighbors. Instead of a smartphone, a radio. My thoughts would be different, slower, more restrained. But perhaps my dreams would be similar: to be myself, to feel love, to be heard.
Sometimes I try to live a day in the spirit of that time. Without gadgets, with a book and handicrafts, in silence. This helps to feel the value of simple things and understand that much has changed, but the essence remains. Women 100 years ago and we today are still the same strong, feeling, dreaming.
