Favorite thing to do when no one sees you

We all wear masks. And it's not bad. It's convenient. It's, in a sense, safety. I can be different - and I'm proud of it. But there is something that belongs only to me. Not for Instagram, not for friends, not for evaluation. My little secret. My inner theater.

When no one sees me, I turn into a movie heroine. No, not with a tragic look and not with a rose in her teeth. But into the one who can sit on the floor in her underwear, drink tea with honey and talk out loud to herself. My favorite scene is late evening, when the windows are dark, the phone is on silent, and I am finally alone. Not in a bad way. But in the most delicious way.

I take music. Not the one for the background. And the one that makes your whole body move. It’s not necessary to dance. Sometimes just walk slowly around the room, as if each step is a rehearsal for going out on the catwalk. I know how to be light when no one sees me. I know how not to suck in my stomach. Not to think about how it looks. Just be.

Sometimes I open my favorite perfume and put it on before bed. No one will feel it. Only me. But that’s the whole point — to do beautiful things just for yourself. Not to wait for a reason. Not to wait for an audience.

I like to read poetry out loud. Sometimes even with expression. To feel how my voice becomes velvety, then sharp. I try out roles. And at that moment I’m not acting — I’m real. I’m an actress in my own movie, which no one will film, but which I live to the fullest.

And yes, sometimes I cry in the bathroom to music. Or sing in the shower, as if the stadium can hear me. It’s not stupidity. It’s freedom. Small, homey. No one judges. No one corrects. You can be weird. You can be vulnerable. You can be yourself.

Maybe happiness is the ability to be yourself when no one is looking? When you are not for someone else. When you are just you.
