Working as a nurse has changed the way I look at people, completely. 🩺💙 Every face hides a story, every touch means something.
You stop looking at people as just faces or names, you start seeing stories, struggles, quiet bravery, and sometimes pain hiding behind the smile.
I’ve held the hands of strangers at their most vulnerable. I’ve seen strength in the eyes of the weak, hope in the heart of someone who had every reason to give up.
And through it all, I learned something powerful: no one is ever “just fine.” Everyone is carrying something on their mind. And sometimes the kindest thing you can do is simply listen.
Before I became a nurse, I thought love meant grand gestures. Now I know love often looks like wiping someone’s forehead, bringing them water at 3am, or saying “you’re safe” when they need to hear it most.
Working in medicine doesn’t just change how you treat patients — it changes how you treat everyone. I notice the tired eyes of a cashier. I don’t rush past an old man walking slowly. And I never underestimate what a warm smile can do for someone who feels invisible.
I also completely stopped judging people by their appearance. All this also has its own nature and reasons. Every body to me is beautiful and unique, because it breathes and thinks, and its heart beats.
Well, and the specificity of doctors - I am not shy of naked bodies. Not at all.
So yes, being a nurse reshaped my world. It made me softer… but stronger. More alert… but more patient. And it reminded me, again and again, that life is fragile, and love, when given freely and gently, can be the strongest medicine of all.
With care,
