He Pursues Yesterday, after church and lunch, we headed to Odessa’s downtown (City Center). It was cold and very windy but we had a great time. I called another one of “my kids”, Liza, and told her where we would be and hoped she could meet us. I’ve been keeping up with Liza for many years, just like the other kids I’ve visited with this trip.

Liza is amazing. She is strong spirited, confident, funny, out spoken, and a natural leader. I’ve seen a huge change in her the last few years. She is absolutely beautiful inside and out. She glows. The reason? Because Jesus shines through her. I asked her her story and how her story came about. God pursued her. For over a year, a woman spoke with her about God every time she saw her, and the moments they saw each other seemed to be God ordained. She also wanted to open her home up to Liza. Liza was very sceptical and was also running from God. She didn’t think there could be a God when she had no family, lived in an orphanage, and had nobody to love her. The mom-to-be didn’t push Liza or judge her. She had the kind of love the Bible talks about. Patient, kind, and never ending. Finally, many things fell into God’s plan and they adopted Liza at age 18. A few years ago, Liza accepted Jesus and was baptized. She is so happy and doing so well. She loves her family and God, and it shows!
