The origin of tiramisu is shrouded in legends and controversy. One of the most popular myths connects its creation with the brothels of Northern Italy in the early 20th century, where it was served as an energy drink for customers. However, it is more likely that tiramisu appeared in the 1960s or 1970s in the restaurant "Le Beccherie" in Treviso, Italy. It is believed that the chef of this restaurant, Roberto Linguanotto, created this dessert inspired by traditional Italian flavors.
