Today I found an old photo of my cat. Anfisa.
I found her in a trash can when I was taking out the trash. Someone put the tiny kitten in a bag and tied it. Just threw it away like an unnecessary thing. But I couldn’t pass by. I fed her from a pipette, warmed her with my body, taught her to trust people.

Anfisa lived with me for 4 years. She was my silence, my comfort. When I felt bad, she sat on my lap and purred. And if I cried, she licked my tears.
And a few months ago she died... She burned in my house when a Russian missile landed there. I was not home then. She was alone. I did not have time to save her.

Today I just burst into tears. From the photo. From the memories. From the affection that still lives in me.

We do not always realize how someone can become a part of our heart. But when we lose - we feel how empty it becomes inside.
