I'll admit it honestly — I'm not the kind of girl who rolls out dough for hours and paints gingerbread with icing. I tried it once — and realized that for me it's torture.
But there is one cheat cake that I bake once a month. Because I need something that looks "wow", but doesn't require being Cinderella at the stove. I call it "a cake for lazy queens".
The whole secret is in the store-bought cake layers. Take three of them, spread them with sour cream and sugar and a handful of berries (if you don't have berries, bananas or cookies will do). On top - anything: grated chocolate, nuts, coconut flakes.
I make it at night, with music. I leave it in the fridge until the morning - and here it is, my queen's breakfast. Sometimes it saves me from thinking "what can I do?" Because I can - please myself with a tasty treat and not worry.
My friends write: "Wow! Did you bake it yourself?" And I nod and smile. My secret is not about cooking. It's about the fact that sometimes it's easier to complicate everything, and sometimes - to allow yourself to be lazy and still get a cake.
