Mosquito season: what to do to stay sane?
id: 10056496

But there is good news: we are not powerless. I am sharing proven ways to survive this itchy season.
1. Don't invite them home
Close the windows at night or install mosquito nets. They really work. And if you want romance with an open window - hang some gauze, add a drop of lavender oil, and the mosquitoes will think you are a witch. A respected witch, who is not worth bothering.
2. Smell is everything
Mosquitoes hate the smells of:
lavender
eucalyptus
cloves
basil
tea tree
You can drip oils into an aroma lamp, spray it, or even drop it on your pillow (but don't overdo it, otherwise you'll run away with the mosquitoes).
3. Turn off the light - you'll save your skin
They fly towards the light. Which means fewer bright lamps, especially outside. Want to sit in the garden or on the balcony? Buy yellow bulbs, mosquitoes don't like them. Or just... don't turn on the spotlight as if you were on stage.
4. The right clothes
Light but closed clothes - not necessarily an old robe. There are stylish summer clothes that will protect you from bites and at the same time leave you a chance to be fashionable. White fabric is a plus, black is a minus. Mosquitoes are goths, they love dark.
5. Don't scratch! I repeat: don't scratch.
It's like a "make it worse" button. It's better to apply ice, rub it with soda or fenistil, or at least apply a spoon chilled in the freezer.
And what do you use against mosquitoes?
Or do you have your own magic - like garlic under your pillow or dancing with a tambourine on the balcony?
