I used to think that successful people were those who never stopped. Life's marathon runners: more tasks, more meetings, more check marks in the diary.
I had such a period. I set goals — and went to them to the point of exhaustion. But then I went to the pharmacy for vitamins and dreamed of not talking to anyone for a month.
That was the first time I understood: a goal without rest is a path to burnout.
Now I set goals differently. First I ask: "Why?" If the goal is just for the sake of it or to prove something to someone, then it's not mine.
I break a big goal into tiny steps. So that it doesn't scare me with its scale. And I always plan days of doing nothing. Yes, right on the calendar.
When I start something new, I try not to forget about small victories. If you dream of running a marathon, first be glad that you bought sneakers.
The most important thing is to listen to your body. If you feel empty inside and want to hide, it means it's time to slow down. Success is not canceled if you stop for a day or two.
I learned to say "no" to what eats up my energy. Before, I took on everything so as not to miss a chance. Now I choose what really fills me up.
Goals can be different. For some, they are about a career, for others - about love or health. But the meaning is the same for everyone: to move where you want to be.
Going slowly does not mean losing. It means going at your own pace.
And if suddenly everything goes wrong, I close the laptop, make tea with honey and remind myself: I am not a robot. I am a person. And this is the main reason to love myself even during breaks.
