It was spring, when I decided it was time to start my morning with a jog in the park. The day was warm, the sun was bright, and everything was going perfectly - until I noticed a duck on the track. It was standing right on the running line and looking at me as if I owed it something. I slowed down, but it didn't.
So I walked around it, and it followed me. At first I thought it was a coincidence, but the further I ran, the faster it slapped its paws. A couple of minutes later, we were running together, and passersby started laughing and filming us on their phones.
The climax happened when we reached the pond, and she, without slowing down, simply plopped into the water, and I, by inertia, almost flew after her.
Since then, every time I pass by this place, I involuntarily look for “my” duck.
