A walk without a route
id: 10057169

Today I deliberately left my phone at home and went outside without any idea where I was going. I didn’t take my headphones, my wallet, or even my car keys. I just closed the door and went. At first it was a little strange – it seemed like something was missing. But after a couple of minutes my step became lighter, as if I had gotten rid of an invisible burden.

I walked along the street, noticing what I usually miss: cracks in the sidewalk, smells from nearby cafes, flowers blooming near the entrances. The wind accidentally lifted a fold of my coat, and I smiled – so quietly, to myself. It was a simple walk, but it really freed my head from everything accumulated.

It was as if I saw the city for the first time, where I have lived for a long time. As if a layer of habit had gone, and underneath it there was something alive, bright, curious. At some point, I stopped at a display case with green glass vases. I had never paid attention to this small shop. And suddenly I realized that there was still so much unknown in the world, even around the corner from my own home.

I didn’t count the time. I didn’t think about meetings and tasks. I just walked, turning where I wanted. When music started playing from a window in the distance, I stopped to listen. I touched the rough wall of the building and felt the coolness. These sensations are simple, but surprisingly real. Everything around seemed to return to high definition - every detail became important and beautiful.

When I returned home, for the first time in a long time, there was not a single unnecessary thought in my head. A complete feeling of a reboot. I realized that sometimes it is enough to go out without a route to find a point of reference inside again.
