There is something special about the last days of summer. It seems like the sun is still generously warming, but there is already a subtle hint of autumn in the air. The morning is fresh, the wind becomes more transparent, and the leaves on the trees are a little less green.
I often notice that it is at this transitional moment that a slight sadness appears. As if you are parting with something loved. But I have learned to deceive autumn melancholy.
The first remedy is smells. I start brewing tea with cinnamon, orange peel and honey. This taste immediately reminds me of warmth and coziness. Sometimes I add a little ginger, and then everything around seems to become brighter.
The second is small traditions. I have a blanket that I only take out at the end of August. It seems as if it keeps the warmth of previous autumns. I sit with it by the window, take a book or turn on an old movie, and I am no longer sad, but on the contrary - calm.
The third is light. When the days get shorter, it is very important to create cozy lighting. I like to put candles, sometimes with the aroma of vanilla or coffee. It is a very small detail, but it completely changes the atmosphere in the room.
And the main thing is to remember that autumn is not always about sadness. It can be about new beginnings. As children, we always waited for September as a moment of something important: new notebooks, plans, expectations. I try to preserve this feeling.
Maybe autumn is not the end of summer, but the beginning of a new stage. Everything depends on how we meet it.
