I often think: what my morning will be like is what my whole day will be like. That is why I try to find my own little rituals that help me wake up with a smile. No, this is not magic or advice from self-help books. These are my personal discoveries, tested on ordinary everyday life.
The first thing that always works is not to grab your phone right away. As soon as you start scrolling through your feed or checking messages, your brain instantly overloads. That is why I give myself at least 10 minutes to just come to my senses, stretch, and breathe in some fresh air.
The second is a glass of water. It sounds trivial, but I really feel my body waking up. Sometimes I add lemon or mint to it - and now it is not just water, but a little ritual of freshness.
The third is music. Everyone has their own “mood-lifting” list. I have light jazz and crazy dance tracks there. Sometimes I just dance in the kitchen while I’m putting the kettle on.
Fourth — a delicious breakfast. It can be anything, but it’s important that it makes you happy. Even a banal toast with avocado or a piece of chocolate can set the mood.
Fifth — a favorite mug. You know, the one that makes everything taste better. I have one with a funny cat, and every time I pick it up, I smile.
Sixth — a mirror. Yes, that’s right. I smile at myself in the reflection, even if I’m sleepy and not very happy. It works strangely, but it lifts my mood.
Seventh — a list of plans for the day, but in a pleasant form. I write down not only tasks, but also small joys. For example, “buy a delicious croissant” or “call a friend.”
Eighth — aroma. I turn on an aroma lamp or just open the window and breathe in the morning air. Sometimes it smells like fresh bread from the neighbors, sometimes like rain — and this already gives a feeling of life.
Ninth — a short walk. Even if you have no time, it is useful to go out for five minutes and breathe in the air.
And tenth — give yourself time. Don’t rush so much that you forget about yourself. Even if it’s five minutes of silence, but these are my five minutes.
Every morning becomes special when you add little joys to it. Morning is not a punishment, but a chance.
