September 1st is here: how single moms don’t go crazy getting ready for school and kindergarten
id: 10049304

But we won’t panic! Here are some tips to get through this marathon and keep (at least a little) of your sanity.

1. Planning is your best friend

Make a checklist on your phone or in a notebook:

clothes and shoes;

backpack or bag;

stationery;

signed notebooks and textbooks;

everything for physical education.

When everything is written down, your head stops buzzing with chaos. A nice bonus is that you can cross off what you’ve done and feel like a winner 🏆.

2. Delegate… even to your kids

Yes, you’re a superhero, but even superheroes have helpers. Kids can:

choose their backpack or notebooks;

organize their stationery into boxes;

help iron their uniforms.

First, it’s easier for you. Second, they start to feel responsible. Thirdly, there is less chance that your child will say in the morning: “I will not wear this backpack!”

3. Buy online and in advance

Going to crowded stores a week before school is a test of nerves. Online shopping saves:

you will save time;

get everything in one place;

you will avoid chaos in lines.

But if you are reading this on August 29, like most of us, don’t worry: buy the most necessary things now, buy the rest later. By the way, children will also appreciate the “update” in mid-September.

4. Morning assembly without tantrums

Choose clothes, pack a backpack and prepare breakfast the evening before. In the morning you will remind yourself of the personal manager of a little rock star anyway, so there is no need for unnecessary chaos.

And most importantly: set the alarm clock 15 minutes earlier than you want. Yes, it hurts, but it works.

5. Allow yourself not to be perfect

Didn't have time to buy all the notebooks? No big deal. Forgot to sign the textbooks? The world won't fall apart.

Children are happy when mom is calm, not when there are 12 notebooks with identical stickers in the bag.

6. Little joys for yourself

After school meetings, scraps of paper, queues and endless chats with moms, allow yourself coffee, dessert, a TV series or a hot bath. This is also an important part of preparation - taking care of yourself.

Conclusion

September 1 is always a little stressful, especially for single mothers. But if you divide the preparation into stages, involve your children in the process and do not demand perfection from yourself, everything becomes easier.

And if it doesn't work out at all - remember: the children will grow up, and the memes about school meetings will remain 😄
