I love black. It makes me strong, confident, it emphasizes my individuality. I feel like myself in it. And every time I imagine my possible “main dress”, I catch myself thinking that I want black. Yes, black, and not because I'm a goth or a rebel. White just seems too expected, too alien.
But society immediately whispers: “Black is mourning. How can you?” As if a wedding is a performance for others, where every detail must comply with the rules. And if the rules do not resonate with me? What is more important: to match the symbolism or to be honest with yourself? ðŸŽ
Sometimes I think that the white dress has become a cage. The symbol that was originally about purity has turned into a standard that stifles individuality. Millions of girls put on the same dress in the hope that it will make the moment “right”. But does a dress make love real?
Maybe black is also a symbol. A symbol of strength, freedom and loyalty to yourself. Why are we afraid to combine light and shadow, joy and fear, the beginning and the end of an old life on our wedding day? After all, this is where the depth lies.
And I ask myself: if I really went out in a black wedding dress, would it be an act of courage or just another way to challenge other people's expectations? 🤔🖤
