Travel teaches not only how to discover new places, but also what not to take with you.
Especially the things you drag around like rocks… and never use 🙃
So, here’s my personal anti-packing list — learn from my suitcase mistakes!
1. Fifth pair of shoes 👠👟
In the end, I always wear the same comfy pair. The heels for the “wine glass photo”? Never left the suitcase.
2. Hardcover book 📚
A 600-page novel sounds lovely. But on vacation, my max is reading signs and food menus.
3. Hairdryer, curling iron, round brush, another curling iron… 💨
I had a plan: beach waves at sunset. Reality: messy bun and a hat. Every time.
4. Three types of “just in case” outfits 👗🧥
“Maybe someone will invite me to a yacht/opera/mountain picnic.”
No one did.
5. A million beauty products 🧴💄
Out of 4 jars of creams, I used… one. And of course, something spilled.
6. Food from home 🍞🧀
Yes, I also thought porridge was essential. But then I found a local shop and forgot all about it.
7. Three power banks 🔋
One good one is enough. I was ready to power a jungle camp — but only needed to charge my phone at a cafe.
8. Half a pharmacy 💊
90% was unnecessary. Some plasters and basic painkillers — that’s enough.
9. Umbrella 🌂
Always awkward, always in the way, always ends up being useless — and I still get caught in the rain.
10. Stress and anxious thoughts 🧠❌
The hardest thing to leave at home. But also the most important thing not to take.
The takeaway?
Travel isn’t about “what if I need it” — it’s about “less stuff, more freedom” ☀️
