Winter often covers you with a feeling of slowness, indifference and unwillingness to move. But sometimes you need not to “fight”, but to create an environment in which it becomes easier.
Light is the first thing to start with. Open the curtains, turn on bright lights, use fluorescent lamps. This is a simple but incredibly effective way to trick your brain and raise serotonin levels.
Micro-routines are the second step. You don’t need big plans. Small rituals are enough: a warm shower in the morning, a cup of aromatic tea, a 5-minute workout, a short walk. It is micro-actions that create a sense of control.
Heat also heals. A soft blanket, warm pajamas, a heating pad, the aroma of cinnamon tea or cocoa - all this gives the brain a sense of security. Don’t underestimate the power of comfort.
And finally, plan small joys. A new TV series, a book, dancing in the apartment, creativity, online courses - anything that is even slightly interesting is worth letting into your day.
Winter is not only about the cold, but also an opportunity to slow down, recover and take care of yourself.
